Human Resources Business Partner- Job Vacancy in Long Beach, California, United States of America (USA)

Responsibilities:       

 

  • Provides guidance and coaching to HR staff, employees, and managers on HRPD programs, policy, and legislative interpretation.
  • Accountable and responsible to ensure transactional activities are completed on time and are in line with PCL policies and procedures.
  • Participates in district HRPD strategic planning process. Leads development, execution, and evaluation of district level projects initiatives as assigned (training plan, health & wellness, etc.).
  • Leads the facilitation of succession planning sessions at the district level; this may include consolidation of reports for regional review.
  • Supports communication plan to key stakeholders and participates in sector HRPD strategic planning process.
  • Partners with Operations to develop staff plans.
  • Supports local market research and analysis for salary/bonus review cycle. Takes a leadership role in maintaining internal/external equity at district level through effective compensation administration.
  • Provides guidance, coaching, and training on all aspects of career management. Conducts periodic check-ins/audits.
  • Leads the facilitation of succession planning sessions at the department level; this may include consolidation of reports for regional review.
  • Guides and coaches supervisors through progressive discipline process for entry to mid-level positions, including the development and delivery of performance improvement plans and/or progressive disciplinary strategies on employee relations issues up to and including termination.
  • Prepares risk analysis and recommendations for terminations and/or reductions in force for HRPD manager review.
  • Conducts exit interviews for voluntary terminations.
  • May leads investigations, including communication/implementation of outcomes/ decisions. May assist senior HRPD manager on complex investigations.
  • Provides data analysis and recommendations.
  • Delivers district-level training programs and complex facilitation sessions.
  • Leads implementation support given to senior HRPD manager on corporate and regional initiatives.
  • May supervise, direct, coach, train, and mentor HRPD team, including direct and indirect reports if applicable.
  • Values, models, and coaches the solution provider and profitability culture.
  • Identifies and manages risk and opportunities within HRPD processes, projects, or programs.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline preferred.
  • Completion of HR designation preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive human resources experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of HRPD-related principles, practices, procedures, and employment legislation.
  • Able to tactfully and diplomatically deal with people and act with discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Able to interpret and analyze information and data and make recommendations.
  • Strong business acumen, with an understanding of industry practices and new developments.
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Able to effectively manage a team comprising of entry-level human resources professionals.
  • Seen as a trusted advisor with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and present ideas and content that influence a favorable outcome.
  • Strong organizational skills, high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and facilitation and in managing complex facilitated sessions.
  • Strong networking skills, with the ability to develop and maintain HR networks.
  • Results-oriented, with strong project management experience.
  • Able to act as a change agent by applying change management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated critical-thinking skills.
  • Able to coach managers through employee relations issues.
  • Demonstrated experience executing employment investigations.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems.
