Systems construction engineer- Job Vacancy in Chicago, IL, Cleveland, OH, Washington DC, or Arlington, VA 

Duties will include:

  • Participation in the planning, design and construction of rail projects.
  • Writing concise and comprehensive professional and technical reports.
  • Gathering and maintaining specified records of engineering data and installation progress.
  • Collating contractors’ weekly dependency lists and provide concise reports to the Interface Manager.
  • Perform site inspections and validify contractor dependencies.
  • Support witness system tests to verify construction compliance with contract requirements.
  • Supporting systemwide safety analysis and management through hazard identification, risk assessments and safety compliance verification.
  • Review contractors’ work plans for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Hold readiness review meetings for system wide work fronts.
  • Interpret contract documents, specifications, drawings and construction schedules in support of change order management.
  • Attending meetings with operators, clients and contractors, together with senior team members.
  • Provide support to the interface management and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.

Candidate Specification

We are looking for candidates with the following characteristics:

  • Preferably 4+ Years in railway construction.
  • B.S. Degree within an engineering discipline or degree in construction management.
  • EIT preferred with a strong desire and motivation for obtaining PE License.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Methodical approach to problem solving and the ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently on multiple assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Experience of the successful reporting of meetings involving many stakeholders to review project situations, define interface issues and support resolution.
