Job Summary:

The incumbent performs a range of intermediate financial accounting activities in a timely and accurate manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Prepare, maintain, monitor, post, track and process accounting transactions in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting procedures and internal controls.
2. Prepare and distribute invoices in accordance with various approved bylaws including fees and charges. Process monthly business renewal batches.
3. Prepare written notification and collect delinquent receivables including taxes. Process tax liens and distress warrants for delinquent taxes and other collection procedures.
4. Research, compile statistics and prepare reports including year-end reports.
5. Prepare, monitor, track, process and reconcile accounts receivable accounts and license renewals in accordance with various fees and bylaws.
6. Prepare, verify, track, monitor, process and reconcile account receivable accounts. This may include:

  • Tax liens and warrants;
  • Payment in lieu for both Federal and Yukon Governments’ property tax accounts;
  • Small claims action;
  • Non-sufficient funds;
  • Write-off accounts; and
  • Daily cash imports.

7. Maintain the designated accounts receivable modules within the computerized system, prepare journal entries and reconcile various general ledger accounts.
8. Provide input into Bylaws in area of responsibility.
9. Act as Supervisor, Revenue Services as assigned
10. Follow, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
11. Other related duties.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven skills working with computerized financial systems software.
  • Ability to work and maintain accuracy under pressure, attention to details and meet critical deadlines.
