Technician – Building Mechanical Systems and Piping – Hybrid – Job Vacancy in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Primary responsibilities
- Carry out the design and production of drawings for various industrial projects (expansion, modernization, and optimization)
- Closely collaborate with the project team to propose solutions adapted to clients’ needs
- Carry out field surveys
- Work in a 3D digital environment (point cloud)
- Contribute to design in terms of piping standards and specifications
- Participate in the modification and design of process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), isometric drawings, 3D modelling
- Prepare 2D and 3D CAD drawings
- Verify 3D models and piping drawings
- Prepare lists of piping flow lines, materials, and connection points
- Ensure quality control on drawings produced by the draftspersons
- Coordinate the information provided by suppliers, and integrate changes to project drawings
- Participate in the project team’s meetings and presentations
Profile
- Degree or certificate in engineering drawing or technology
- Between 5 and 10 years of piping design experience in the heavy industry sector (mining, pulp and paper, manufacturing, oil)
- Ability to design a 3D piping network, focusing on safety, constructability, serviceability, and industry best practices
- Experience in plant establishment and optimization (brownfield, greenfield)
- Advanced practical knowledge of Plant 3D and Revit software
- Practical knowledge of Naviswork, Solidworks and Inventor software
- Practical knowledge of the Office 365 suite
- Strong interest in furthering one’s knowledge within a dynamic team
- Bilingualism and availability to travel on occasion
- Multiskilling, resourcefulness, self-reliance, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and quality
