Senior Buyer – Buildings – Job Vacancy in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

As a Senior Buyer at Graham, you will:

  • Support the Supply Chain Director in delivering objectives and initiatives
  • Handle supply chain management / procurement activity within Buildings Business Unit
  • Support the supply chain solution for bid winning in Buildings Business Unit
  • Participate in strategic projects as necessary
  • Ensure that the supply chain is safe, sustainable, and appropriately accredited
  • Support the production of the project procurement strategy and schedule
  • Prepare and support the placement of subcontract and material supply orders
  • Draft and issue contractual documentation where required
  • Achieve targets set by the Supply Chain Director in alignment with Business Unit
  • Monitor supply chain delivery against procurement schedule
  • Comply with all business supply chain strategies, processes, and procedures
  • Work closely with category management colleagues and cross-functional teams to implement agreements across the business
  • Deliver targeted savings and performance improvement benefits
  • Assume accountability for the cost-reduction and performance of the supply chain
  • Conduct regular management and project reporting, financial status, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Support the project and / or business cash management strategy
  • Identify ways to reduce cost and improve service
  • Work closely with stakeholders and category managers to understand customer requirements and implement the most appropriate supply chain and category solutions
  • Promote Graham Supply Chain capability to customers, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Conduct and support subcontract and supply pre-let meetings and negotiations
  • Ensure resources are in place to meet the business needs
  • Deliver best practice and effective solutions to reduce business costs and risk
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to motivate others through change
  • Demonstrate a drive to build and develop relationships with customers, suppliers, and team members

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or another Technical field
  • SCMA / CIPS qualification is preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a buyer role or related
  • Must have experience working within the Construction sector, ideally with a General Contractor
  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles, procedures, and methods
  • Ability to source materials, equipment including long lead and complex items
  • Strong analytical skills and high competency in supplier selection and evaluation
  • Strong understanding of contractual and commercial agreements
  • Competent project management and planning skills
  • Ability to operate under pressure and to meet tight and demanding deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
