Receiver – Job Vacancy in Toronto – Ontario – Canada

Position Description: Receiver – Days

Shift: Days, 6:00am – 2:30pm

Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor

Primary Objectives:

  • Maintain and improve branch profitability and excellent customer service through:
  • Correctly identifying and receiving all product into the building
  • Contacting suppliers with discrepancies and working through any issues to maintain a positive relationship
  • Working with accounts payable to solve invoicing issues
  • Ensure that all safety standards are met and exceeded as outlined in the Company Safety Manual
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility and accountability daily with regard to attitude, job performance, professionalism and commitment to continuous development
  • Support and promote the company’s Mission and Vision

Safety Accountabilities:

  • Use/wear any protective equipment, devices or clothing required by Marks Supply i.e. steel toed shoes or boots, cut resistant gloves, safety glasses, respirators-as applicable to the job
  • Report to your supervisor the absence of safety devices or any defect in any equipment/safety device that you are aware of, which could endanger yourself or others.
  • Report immediately to your supervisor: any contraventions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) or the Company Safety Policies, any accidents or incidents that occur, or the existence of any hazards you are aware of.
  • Operate any necessary machinery or equipment safely in accordance with the safety rules and procedures for that equipment.
  • Be aware of the common hazards in this position (following safety procedures and using caution): Ergonomic injuries, trips, slips, cuts, lifting incorrectly, hand/foot injuries, fall(arrest)
  • Keep up to date on the company Health & Safety Policies, follow the policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all safety standards are met and exceeded as outlined in the OHSA and the Company Safety Manual.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Record shipments on receiving log
  • Assist driver unloading supplier trucks
  • Enter Bill of Lading number into the Eclipse System for collect shipments
  • Unpack boxes and confirm items received against packing slips
  • Print P.O. and match what was ordered to what was received
  • Receive damaged product as defective and notify supplier to bill the courier
  • Print labels for items requiring them
  • Place stock items to totes for Material Handler to put away
  • Place non-stock items into stock immediately
  • Process incorrect orders. Indicate the problem with the shipment and contact the person for A/P to follow up with when the invoice comes in
  • Adjust system for shipping errors
  • Process returns that are to go back into stock
  • Ensure material to be cross-docked is placed in the proper staging area for prompt delivery
  • Schedule deliveries of 3 or more skids to ensure flow of product remains uninterrupted
  • Deliver personally addressed packages to individuals within the company
  • Keep receiving bay clean
  • Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Thorough HVAC and/or plumbing product knowledge considered an asset
  • Prior warehouse experience required; prior receiving experience an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively prioritize tasks and maintain paperwork
  • Ability to utilize office and warehouse equipment, including a computerized inventory gun, the computer, phones, tow motor and picker
  • Ability to work overtime as required to receive a shipment or to assist the department with a heavy workload
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high pressure for results
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to analyze the importance of situations and respond appropriately
  • Physically agile in order to lift, carry and move large and awkward items
