Night Engineer (Tunnel La Fontaine)- Job Vacancy in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

What YOU Will Do
Your primary mission / Your responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Tunnel Works Manager assigned to the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel rehabilitation project and in close collaboration with the Project Managers responsible for the different project areas, the Night Engineer’s primary mission will involve monitoring and coordinating repair work carried out in the tunnel, as well as validating completion of critical project phases. Specifically, the Night Engineer will be responsible for performing the following tasks.
•Submitting materials certification requests and confirming that such requests have been accepted.
•Establishing implementation procedures aligned with the project’s overall procedural framework while considering the technical, physical and human aspects of each task, complying with document validation deadlines and following the implementation schedule.
•Studying the phasing of work.
•Following up on the work schedule and informing superiors of any observed deviations.
•Providing effective oversight of subcontracted work (weekly meetings; traceability of exchanges; compliance with Safety, Quality and Environment requirements).
•Analyzing and addressing, in different implementation documents, interface constraints between trades.
•Following up on work performed during the night shift, including demolition and concrete removal activities in areas with delaminated concrete, followed by formwork and concrete work in the areas identified.
•Coordinating and supervising the activities of site engineers.
•Conducting engineering work, including the validation of formworks, frameworks, temporary phases and decisions to reopen traffic lanes following a closure.
•Conducting workforce monitoring (hours, assignments and qualifications).
•Following up on equipment rentals.
•Performing monthly calculations of amounts committed/expenses incurred, processing relevant invoices and communicating these progress indicators along with subcontractors’ calculations.
•Coordinating with RFL’s internal monitoring teams, especially for the removal of hold points and checkpoints.
•Adding hold points and critical tasks to the three-week schedule.
•Ensuring proper implementation of the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) for each task, including the performance of field checks and the application of internal controls.
•Ensuring that work teams and subcontractors have the latest versions of the implementation and methods plans.
•Ensuring application of the prevention principles set out in the project’s overall Health and Safety Framework and the different implementation procedures.
•Providing the necessary environmental protection tools.
•Documenting and reporting environmental incidents, including spills.
The following work falls under the responsibility of the Nigh Engineer:
All currently planned night work on the tunnel.
In the tunnel’s service tubes:
•Full demolition and reconstruction of the concrete floor.
•Wall and arch repairs.
•Installation of emergency airlocks.
In and around the traffic tubes:
•Removal and replacement of existing concrete lamellar beams.
•Repairs to the tunnel entrance and exit walls, either by concrete overlay or spot treatments.
•Full replacement of the existing concrete roadway.

What YOU Will Bring

•Bachelor of Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
•At least three years of relevant experience as a works engineer on road construction or repair projects in Quebec.
•Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
•Strong proficiency in the MS Office suite.
•Aptitude for teamwork.
•Ability to manage priorities.
•Meticulousness and attention to detail.
•Strong organizational skills and sense of initiative.
•Ability to work under pressure and manage stress.
•Strong proficiency in written and spoken French.
