Legal Counsel (US)- Corporate Services – Job Vacancy in Seattle, Washington, United States

As Legal Counsel at Graham you will:

  • Advise Graham’s Operations and Corporate Services Teams on the prosecution, defense and resolution of claims and disputes in an efficient and timely manner.  Conduct legal research as required and help resolve disputes from a solution-oriented, practical, creative, and strategic perspective.
  • Take sole carriage of dispute resolution matters and assist other lawyers with complex litigation/arbitration matters.
  • Participate in contract drafting and negotiation throughout the project lifecycle and provide support to Operations related to prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase agreements and similar agreements.
  • Support the Legal Team with legal research and contract form development.
  • Complete assigned work responsibilities and tasks in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Graham’s business, markets, and contract types.
  • Interact with Graham personnel, executives, and external stakeholders as needed to complete assigned work.
  • Demonstrate HSE and Quality behaviors that reflect corporate expectations of Actively Caring and Road to Zero.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Current active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with Washington, Colorado, Nebraska or California preferred.
  • 3-7 years of experience practicing construction law in private practice or in-house with a construction or engineering firm (or equivalent).
  • Ideally, experience in Employment law.
  • Experience with construction insurance and bonding claims.
  • Good understanding of construction/engineering industry and general construction contracts.
  • Experience with interpretation of construction contracts regarding all aspects of entitlement and quantum.
  • Ability to travel to Canada is required.
