Design Coordinator – APEX – Job Vacancy in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

À quoi ressemblera votre semaine de travail?

During the proposal and execution phases of projects carried out in alternative modes, the Design Coordinator assists the Design Manager in overseeing all the project design and finalization steps. Depending on the size and characteristics of the project, the Design Coordinator may be assigned to manage a particular area and/or given technical responsibilities according to their expertise.

 

  • Become familiar with the documents supplied by the client during the proposal phase and/or the project documents during the execution phase (design-build contract, contracts with professionals, client’s technical requirements, etc.);
  • With the Design Manager, establish responsibilities for the project, in addition to assisting in the design process by performing the following tasks (non-exhaustive list):
  • Coordinate the professionals involved (architects, professional engineers and specialized consultants) during design development;
  • Make sure that the production of the deliverables meets the set objectives and schedules;
  • Handle technical questions and answers received from the design teams;
  • Manage the technical documents and reviews using a document management system;
  • Communicate required technical information and drawings to the estimation department, as well as to suppliers and subcontractors involved in the project;
  • Optimize the design (alternatives analysis, value analysis, etc.) by considering schedule and cost impacts in addition to ensuring the constructability of the designs with the construction team;
  • Participate in design review committee meetings with all relevant stakeholders, take minutes as required and follow up on outstanding issues;
  • Ensure that the chosen modelling method (BIM) is properly implemented and used in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders;
  • Follow up on the client’s design criteria by liaising between the various disciplines;
  • Collaborate with the construction team in reviewing requests for information, shop drawings and site instructions.


Possédez-vous ces qualifications et habiletés?

  • Bachelor’s degree OR college diploma in engineering, architecture or a related field; [If a bachelor’s degree is required]:Member of a professional body (OIQ, OAQ, etc.);
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a design development role;
  • Able to demonstrate initiative, innovation and thoroughness;
  • Good knowledge of virtual BIM-VDC modelling;
  • Excellent ability to analyze and review, good sense of judgment and excellent communication skills;
  • Able to work effectively with all project team members;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress well;
  • Good knowledge of English.
