Construction Technical Writer & Proposal Coordinator – Job Vacancy in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

As Technical Writer at Graham you will:

  • Develop documentation in cooperation with Business Development, Design Management and Estimating under the Guidance of the Business Development Specialist and Pre-Construction Director.
  • Assist the Pursuits and Business Development team in the creation of client related communications.
  • Ensure all client documents are downloaded and updated regularly while distributing updates to the team.
  • Work directly with the team on Strategic Project Pursuits including taking a leading role on Technical Writing for Project Proposals during the Bid phase.
  • Implementation of the proposal process while ensuring all proposal and qualification submissions are of high quality and compliant with requirements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of solicitation documents, identify response deliverables, establish submission schedules and communicate responsibilities to the team.
  • Follow proposal and submission schedules to ensure all tasks are completed by established due dates while reporting to the Business Development Specialist.
  • Check and edit narratives for understanding, grammar and readability as one voice while ensuring consistency on use of format and terms.
  • Support in the development of presentations, e-bulletins and other internal and external communications to staff, suppliers and trades.
  • Develop and maintain a document library for resumes, project fact sheets and other strategic information for current and future use.
  • Have a direct hand in working with the BD & Pursuits team (in partnership with Estimating) to identify and pursue construction projects that can positively impact our communities.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Up to three (3) years of experience successfully distilling complex or highly technical concepts to actionable, understandable communications or documentation.
  • Completion of a diploma or degree program in Communications, Marketing, Architecture, Journalism, Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Have a track record of researching and writing effective documentation in a business environment.
  • Have exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, attention to detail and document formatting.
  • Experience working for a construction manager, general contractor or developer.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and SharePoint with InDesign experience being an asset.
