Assistant Regional Operations Controller – Job Vacancy in Seattle, Washington, United States

As an Assistant Controller at Graham, you will:

  • Lead the general transactional accounting processes, reconciliations, and month end procedures. Ensure compliance with deadlines and provides guidance and direction as required
  • Accountable for the administration of subtrade contracts in adherence with company policy
  • Accountable for the owner progress billings, ensuring billings are complete, accurate and timely, and in accordance with the contracts
  • Accountable for efficient and consistent timekeeping processes and LEMS reporting, communicating with the owners, and keeping up to date with changing union agreements and labor standards
  • Responsible for weekly/daily AR reports and collections and engages operations for resolutions of disputes and timely collection of outstanding balances
  • Consolidate and analyze weekly cash flow forecasts and consults with treasury as required
  • Ensure adherence to professional accounting standards, including revenue recognition and accruals
  • Ensure adherence to government, Provincial/State regulations, and taxes to ensure compliance at the Project level and branch/business unit level and consults with Tax department as required
  • Responsible for compliance with documented accounting processes and is actively involved in implementing improvements and revising documentation accordingly
  • Lead the deliverables for audit work requirements (external & client) in the business unit
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of systems and processes, identifies improvement opportunities, and develops actionable solutions
  • Support the reconciliation, clean-up, and analysis of key balance sheet items and resolution of issues, including WIP, AR, AP and holdbacks
  • Ensure compliance with Project contractual terms and conditions in relation to project setup, billing requirements, costing, tax compliance, and labor standards/rates
  • Collaborate with and advise Operations for Contract Management and Administration including: New Entity/JV/Project setups for AR, billing, and costing
  • Provide financial input regarding labor costs, overheads, and other project costs for all material bids and tenders. Provide financial input regarding appropriate contractual commercial terms and conditions, communicating and engaging with Treasury and Tax as appropriate
  • Review and approve accounts receivables, subtrade, and change order reconciliations
  • Participate in and provide financial support to Operations in regular monthly branch/business unit reviews, providing contestability to the financials for the project portfolio and branch/business unit

Qualifications/experience: 

  • Degree in Commerce/Business/Accounting or a related field
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is preferred
  • 7 – 10 years relevant accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of Project Accounting principles and practices
  • Strong Technical accounting proficiency in billing and cost accounting
  • Experience in Construction, Engineering or Heavy Manufacturing Industries
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and system controls, SAP preferred
  • Experience in leading systems enhancements and UAT testing
  • Proficiency with financial and management/cost accounting systems
